The State of FinTech industry as We Know It
Call Levels and savvybeaver have created a new infographic that explores the growth of the FinTech industry more closely. A clear sign of financial technology's growth is seen in the massive rise of investment. In just one year between 2013 and 2014 this grew by roughly 400 percent, from $3 billion to more than $12 billion. This growth is expected to continue exponentially with numbers like $40 billion being thrown around at the end of 2015!

The largest area of investment is in payment processing and lending solutions (40 percent), however emerging technology such as the P2P blockchain popularized by Bitcoin and cloud based technologies that add speed and security to financial networks are also strongly supported.

It shouldn't come as surprise that the US is where the largest percentage of capital comes from. Existing giants like Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and JP Morgan continue to invest millions every year, while wealthy individuals like Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn and Marc Andreessen who made his money with Netscape are also heavily invested in emerging financial technology. The EU and Asia are the second largest backers of the industry.
