A Map of the Second Most Spoken Languages around the World

Often times the most spoken language in any given country is very obvious as it is the official language of the country. Many country’s even have several official languages. There is a lot to be learned by studying the second most spoken language of a given country. Olivet Nazarene University has put together a really cool interactive map that shows the second most spoken language in each country around the world that there is data for. This map excludes official languages from being the second most spoken language in each country. Many people would probably assume that English is the second most spoken language in most countries, however this is only shown to be true in certain areas of the world. Are there any countries on this map that surprise you when you see what language is actually the second most spoken language?
