Yamaha R25 prototype was officially unleashed by the company at EICMA 2013 and the bikes is powered by a 250cc, liquid cooled, 2-stroke, single cylinder engine which generates a maximum power of 35+ bhp and a torque of 28+ Nm. The engine is mated to a constant mesh, 6 speed gearbox. Yamaha R25 is a sports bike with a height of 1140 mm, width of 720 mm and a length of 2000 mm. It has got digital speedometer, two trip-meters and an analogue tachometer. The suspension system includes telescopic for the front and mono cross at rear-end. Yamaha R25 comes equipped with disc brakes for both rear as well as front wheels. Yamaha R25 is expected to be launched by the end of this year in India with an approximate price tag of INR 2.25-2.50 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which may vary. The top 6 rivals of Yamaha R25 are Honda CBR250R, KTM RC390, Kawasaki Ninja 300, Hyosung GT 250R, KTM RC 200 and Suzuki GSR250S. The primary rival of Yamaha R25 is Honda CBR250R, which is powered by a 249.6cc, which generates maximum power of 25 BHP at 8500 rpm and maximum torque of 23 NM at 7000 rpm.
