Back in the 90’s, online dating was seen as an anomaly. However, online dating is more popular than   ever. With the multitude of dating sites (not to mention those horror stories you hear from your   friends), it’s more important than ever to put your safety first when going out on a date. As this Harris   Poll – commissioned by Spokeo – shows, with 70% of people searching online prior to a date – this is   no longer just suspicion, it’s the new normal. Whether finding a Facebook page, performing a reverse   phone look-up or simply typing in an email address into a search engine, it is much easier to prepare   yourself for the worst – while hoping for the best. Others (a whole 30%) will go the extra step in paying   for a little added security. Whatever you may make of the data, the fact that people are doing due   diligence is clear – you are not alone.
