More than 60% of Americans have some grey hair by the age of 40. Grey hair is oftentimes associated as an onset of old age, and the age at which a person gets their first grey hair is largely determined by genetics rather than environmental factors. However, environmental factors such as smoking or poor nutrition can lead to a faster rate of graying in an individual.
