Warranty Direct releases a reliability index every 3-months based on current active policies, which allows motorists to view how reliable their cars are, or the car their interested in. The reliability index considers manufacturing ratings, how many times the models failed, cost to repair, age of car and the mileage on the vehicle. The lower the number, the more reliable the car is.

German cars, known for being one of the most reliable manufacturers of cars around the world, has been overtaken recently by the quality and reliability of Japanese cars. The top 5 most reliable cars have been taken by Japanese cars. While the Nissan GTR holds the least reliable car overall, its closely followed by seven German produced cars.

The top two least reliable rated brands, where taken by Rover and Bentley - closely followed by the German produced Porsche in third.
