Iceland is not only a tourist hotspot – it’s become one of Europe’s most popular filming locations. Major Hollywood productions and popular shows like Game of Thrones have made great use of the islands diverse and truly stunning landscape. SciFi and fantasy films are particularly keen, with the likes of Prometheus, Interstellar, Thor, Star Trek and the upcoming Star Wars having filmed there, to name a few. Many of the popular filming locations are accessible to tourists, so if you want to walk in Jon Snow’s footsteps Beyond the Wall, search for Matt Damon in the spectacular blue glacier planet in Interstellar, or stand atop the majestic waterfall that plays the setting of the birth of mankind in Prometheus, Iceland’s where you need to go.
